June 19 (Reuters) - The asset management arm of Swiss bank UBS said on Thursday it has appointed Desmond Ng as its Asia-Pacific head, effective October 1.
Ng, who has nearly three decades of asset management experience, joins UBS from Allianz Global Investors, where he was the head of Asia Pacific. Ng has previously held senior roles at JP Morgan Asset Management and chaired the Hong Kong Investment Funds Association from 2009 to 2011.
In his new role, Ng will lead UBS Asset Management's Asia-Pacific strategy, working with the firm's global wealth management and investment bank units, collaborating with regional teams and exploring opportunities to expand partnerships with joint venture firms in China.
Ng will report to Aleksandar Ivanovic, president of UBS Asset Management, and Iqbal Khan, co-president of global wealth management and president of UBS Asia-Pacific. (Reporting by Roshan Thomas in Bengaluru; Editing by Mrigank Dhaniwala)
