Bakhytzhan Sagintayev

Template:Copyedit Template:Expand Kazakh Template:Infobox officeholder Bakhytzhan Abdiruly Sagintayev (Template:Lang-kz, Baqıtjan Äbdirulı Sağıntayev, باقىتجان ٵبدٸرۇلى ساعىنتايەۆ, born 13 October 1963) is a Kazakh politician who is now the current Prime Minister of Kazakhstan since 8 September 2016.[1] He graduated from the Kazakh State University, candidate of economic sciences.

He began his career as a teacher in the political economy department of the Almaty Institute of National Economy.

In 1988-1992, he worked in the Kazakh State University and advanced in his career from assistant to assistant professor of the sociology department.

From 1992 to 1998 he was in business.

In 1998, he was appointed Deputy Governor of Zhambyl region.

In 1992-2002, he held the post of the Deputy Chairman of the Agency for Small Business Support, Deputy Chairman of the Agency for Regulation of Natural Monopolies, Competition Protection and Small Business Support of Kazakhstan.

In 2002-2004, he served as the First Deputy Chairman of the Agency for Regulation of Natural Monopolies and Competition Protection of Kazakhstan.

From 2004 to 2007, he chaired the Agency for Regulation of Natural Monopolies of Kazakhstan.

In 2007-2008, B.Sagintayev headed the Prime Minister’s Office of Kazakhstan.

On September 30, 2008, he was appointed Governor of Pavlodar region.

On January 20, 2012, he was appointed Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Kazakhstan.

On September 24, 2012, he became First Deputy Head of “Nur Otan” National Democratic Party.

On January 16, 2013, by the Decree of the President he was appointed First Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Regional Development of Kazakhstan.

B.Sagintayev was awarded “Kurmet” order and anniversary medals.

He is an author of a number of scientific works, publications on state regulation of the natural monopolies, small and medium business development.

B.Sagintayev is married and has two children.

By the resolution of the Government of Republic of Kazakhstan dated 28 September 2016 appointed as the Chairman of the board of directors of JSC «Samruk-Kazyna».[2]
