Ahmet Yesevi University (Turkish: Ahmet Yesevi Üniversitesi) is a university in the city of Turkistan in Kazakhstan, named for the twelfth-century Sufi poet Khoja Akhmet Yassawi. Established in 1993, it has around 20,000 students, of whom around 10% are from Turkey.[1] The Ahmet Yesevi University Medical Centre Hospital operates on the university's main campus in Turkistan.[1]

The university was created as a "mutual university" between Kazakhstan and Turkey, in an arrangement formalised in agreement between Nursultan Nazarbayev and Süleyman Demirel in 1993.[1] Under the university's charter, the rector of the university is appointed by the Higher Educational Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and the first vice rector is appointed by the Higher Educational Council of the Republic of Turkey.[1] Half of the Board of Trustees are appointed by each country, and Turkey appoints the Head of the Board.[2]

The University is a member of the Caucasus University Association.[3]
