Tulipa tarda

Template:Italic title Template:Taxobox Tulipa tarda (late tulip, tarda tulip) is a perennial growing from a bulb. It belongs to the section biflores. It has a leathery tunic that is glabrous on the inside.<ref>Richard Wilford 2008, Tulips. Portland, Timber Press, 158</ref> It has up to seven linear green leaves that can be up to 20 cm long. The stem is between 4 and 20 cm long. The yellow flowers have white tips, anthers and stamen are yellow.<ref name="ReferenceA">Richard Wilford 2008, Tulips. Portland, Timber Press, 157</ref> Tulipa tarda is native to central Asia, growing in rocky subalpine meadows in the Tien Shan.<ref name="MBG">Template:Cite web</ref> It was confused with Tulipa dasystemon for a long time, and only scientifically described in 1933 by Otto Stapf.<ref>Otto Stapf, Curtis' botanical magazine 9321, 1933</ref>

The plant blooms in late April and early May in the Northern Hemisphere.<ref name="ReferenceA"/> The plant was accorded the RHS AGM in 1993.
