Supreme Soviet elections were held in Kazakhstan on 25 March 1990. Of the 360 seats, 270 were directly elected, whilst 90 were selected by public associations.<ref>Dieter Nohlen, Florian Grotz & Christof Hartmann (2001) Elections in Asia: A data handbook, Volume I, p423 ISBN 0-19-924958-X</ref> The Communist Party of Kazakhstan won 342 of the 360 seats, with the remainder going to independents. Voter turnout was reported to be 84.0%.<ref>Nohlen et al., p420</ref>
