Sanzhar Sultanov (born December 7, 1988) is a Kazakhstan-born film director, producer and screenwriter.<ref>http://www.imdb.com/name/nm3343487/</ref>

Early life

Sultanov was born in the small village of Korday, Kazakhstan. He grew up and studied in England, Canada (Upper Canada College<ref name=UCC>Template:Citation</ref>), and the USA.<ref>Template:Cite web</ref> In 2007, Sultanov moved to New York City to study at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute.<ref>Template:Cite web</ref>

Career

Sultanov founded his own company, Reverson Entertainment, in 2009.<ref>Template:Cite web</ref> Sultanov's first short film was Makes The Whole World Kin, an adaptation of the original short story by O. Henry, starring Paul Calderon.<ref>Template:Cite web</ref> In 2010 he produced and directed his first feature film Burning Daylight starring Robert Knepper and Calderon in a supporting role.<ref>Template:Cite web</ref> Sultanov based the screenplay on three Jack London stories,<ref>Template:Cite web</ref> while the film was set in 1920s New York City.<ref>http://sonomacountygazette.com/editions/wcg201008_054.pdf</ref> The film premiered in Sonoma, California<ref>Template:Cite web</ref> (Jack London's hometown) and in New York City's Webster Hall.<ref>Template:Cite web</ref> It also received a wide theatrical release in Kazakhstan<ref>Template:Cite web</ref> and was highly acclaimed by many critics.<ref>Template:Cite web</ref><ref>Template:Cite web</ref><ref>Template:Cite web</ref>

In February 2013, Sultanov partnered with Canadian venture capitalist and fellow Upper Canada College graduate<ref name=UCC/> Loudon Owen and opened up Know Rules Media.<ref>Canadian Microsoft Slayer Loudon Owen Launches Movie Shingle Hollywood Reporter. 2/20/13</ref> In September 2013, the company partnered with director/producer Akan Satayev and his studio SataiFilm, and started pre-production on Hacker. Brillstein Entertainment Partners was attached to executive produce.
