Arys is the junction of two important rail lines: [[Trans-Aral Railway]] (Orenburg-Arys-Tashkent) and [[Turkestan-Siberia Railway]] (Arys-[[Almaty]]-[[Barnaul]]). The economy of Arys is centered on agriculture (grain, cotton, livestock).
