Prior to 2007, when Croitoru joined [[FC Steaua București|Steaua București]], he played for Turistul București, [[FCM Bacău]] and [[FC Vaslui]].

In the first part of [[Liga I 2006-07|Liga I 2006–2007 season]], he and [[Viorel Frunză]] were the key-players for [[FC Vaslui]].
