He won bronze medals at the 2013 World Championships and 2014 Asian Games, but was eliminated in the second bout at the [[Boxing at the 2016 Summer Olympics – Men's bantamweight|2016 Summer Olympics]].<ref name=rio/> Yeraliyev has a degree in physical education from the South Kazakhstan State University and serves in the Kazakhstan Army.<ref name=nbc/>
