==MMA==
Mirasty made his professional [[Mixed martial arts|MMA]] debut against Sebastian Gauthier losing in the first round. In his youth Mirasty competed in boxing and was provincial and golden gloves champion in 1998 and 1999.{{Citation needed|date=January 2010}}

==Personal life==
Mirasty, a Cree Indian, is a distant cousin of teammate [[Jeremy Yablonski]].{{citation needed|date=February 2012}} Mirasty is married to Janessa Mirasty and has two children, older son Tristan and younger daughter Ava. <ref name=":0">{{Cite news|url=http://www.syracuse.com/crunch/index.ssf/2013/10/former_syracuse_crunch_enforcer_jon_mirasty_still_looking_for_a_fight.html|title=Former Syracuse Crunch enforcer Jon Mirasty still spoiling for a good fight|work=syracuse.com|access-date=2017-03-16|language=en-US}}</ref> 

When not playing hockey, or coaching his son, Jon spends time breaking and training horses on his ranch in Meadow Lake.<ref name=":0" />

After playing over nine seasons professionally, Jon saw a future in business and opened up his towns first Tim Hortons within a 90 mile radius.
