The Uy River (Уй, Уй) is a river in Chelyabinsk Oblast in Russia with its upper reaches in Bashkiria. It partially flows along the borders of Chelyabinsk and Kurgan Oblasts with Kazakhstan. The Uy is a left tributary of the Tobol River. The length of the river is 462 km. The area of its basin is 34,400 km². It freezes up in November and stays icebound in April. The town of Troitsk and three reservoirs (the largest being Troitsk Reservoir) are situated on the Uy River.

It rises in the southern Ural Mountains east of the headwaters of the Ural River between Chelyabinsk and Magnitogorsk and flows east with many meanders past Troitsk, Chelyabinsk Oblast to meet the Tobol River near Zverinogolovskoye (formerly the fort of Ust-Uysk). The gold-mining town of Plast (town) is on its headwaters. At the time of the Bashkir War of 1735-40 it was the eastern end of the Orenburg Line of forts and is now approximately part of the border between Russia and Kazakhstan. The Uy is the southernmost river on the east side of the Urals whose waters ultimately reach the Arctic Ocean. South of the Uy waters run to the Ural River which flows south into the Caspian Sea.

The name of the river comes from the Bashkir language, in which it means "valley, lowland".
It arises above Atasu and flows generally westward to Kzyl-Dzhar where it turns south-westard past Birlestik and Zhanabas, then heading ever-more southerly it ends at a series of small lakes (often dry) called the Ozera Segiz. In former times it was a tributary of the Syr Darya, and it may still provide some subsurface flow, but the surface flow disappears more than 100 km from the Syr Darya. The name sary su means yellow water in Turkic languages.
The Narym River is a river in the Eastern Kazakhstan, a tributary of the Irtysh River, originating at the junction of the ridges Narym and Sarymsakty of wetland formed by the mountain runoff streams. With its low headwaters and smooth clay-sandy bed, the width of the river valley at places extends to more than 20 km; in some places it narrows to 25 to. The width of the river is 15 to, and the depth varies from 0.5 to.

Before 1960, Narym flowed directly into the Irtysh River, and at the mouth of the river was a village, Ust-Narym. Since 1960, with the construction of Bukhtarma reservoir that flooded surrounding settlements, the Narym empties into the Buhtarma Reservoir, and at the mouth of the river lies the village Ulken Narym auyly. Along the river are the towns Juldyz, Novoberezovka, and Maymyr.

According to the Chinese annals, the basin of the Narym river was a home of an eastern Hun tribe Ala-at, Tr. for "skewbald horse", called in the Chinese annals "He-la" and "Boma" ("skewbald horse"); from the Alat tribe originated one of the Eastern Hun Shanuys called Helog Tou, i.e. Alat Tou, most likely named after his maternal tribe. Modern descendents of the ancient Alats are Alats in the Altai, and Khalaches and Khalajes in the northern India and eastern section of the Iranian plateau. Under Arabicized name Khalajes, Alats are known to constitute one of the major tribes of the 5th- to 6th-century CE Hephthalites.

The Ilek River (Елек, Илек) is a steppe river at the southern end of the Ural Mountains. It is a tributary of the Ural River and lies in the Orenburg Oblast in Russia and Republic of Kazakhstan. It rises just south of Orsk, flows south a short distance and then flows westward south of and parallel to the Ural River, with many meanders and oxbow lakes, and joins the Ural about 75 km west of Orenburg. Two main cities lie on the banks of the Ilek River: Sol-Iletsk and Aqtöbe (alternate spelling: Aktöbe, Aktyubinsk). The Ilek River remains the most polluted water body in the Ural-Caspian basin. The content of boron and chromium in the river is caused by the tailing ponds of former chemical plants via ground water. The quality class of water in the Ilek River changes from 4 – “polluted water” to 6 – “very polluted water” ("Water resources of Kazakhstan in the new millennium," Water Resources Committee of RK, 2002).
A further tributary of the Ilek River is the Bol'saja Chobda. It is also of archeological significance since it has been discovered as the site of certain Kurgan (Indo-European) burials. .

Tributaries include the Kargala River.

The Emil River (Еміл, Эмель) or Emin River (), also spelled Emel, Imil, etc., is a river in China and Kazakhstan. It flows through Tacheng (Tarbagatay) Prefecture of China's Xinjiang Uighur Autonomous Region and the East Kazakhstan Province of Kazakhstan, and is one of the principal affluents of Lake Alakol.

The Emil River is the principal watercourse of the Emin Valley, the plain bounded by the Tarbagatai Mountains in the north, the Barlyk Mountains () in the southeast and Lake Alakol in the west. The Emil's headwaters are two streams, the Sary Emil ("Yellow Emil") and Kara Emil ("Black Emil"), which rise near the Sino-Kazakh border in the Tarbagatai Mountains, near the Tarbagatai's junction with the Saur. The two Emils flow in the west-south-western direction, eventually joining together, across Dörbiljin County (which is called in Chinese as Emin County, after the river). The river continues it flow to the west, the border of Tacheng City and Yumin County mostly following its course. The Emil crosses the Sino-Kazakh border at , and after a short stretch in Kazakhstan discharges into Lake Alakol at , where it forms a small delta. The total length of the meandering river is estimated at 250 km, of which 180 km is China and 70 km in Kazakhstan.

Emin Town, the county seat of Emin County, is situated in the Emil River valley.

Similarly to the much larger and better known Ili, the Emil receives most of its water from the mountains on the Chinese side of the border and is an essential for the water balance of a major lake in Kazakhstan (the Alakol in case of Emil, the Balkhash for the Ili). Accordingly, the management of its water within China is also of concern for Kazakhstan, and is a subject of interaction between the authorities of the two countries.<ref>[http://www.centrasia.ru/newsA.php?st=1046167800 Казахстан и Китай решили совместо использовать трансграничные реки. The Tura River (Тура́), also known as Dolgaya River (Long River, Долгая) is a historically important Siberian river which flows eastward from the central Ural Mountains into the Tobol River, a part of the Ob River basin. The main town on it is Tyumen.

Description
From about 1600 to 1750 the Tura River was the main entry point into Siberia. Most people and goods entering or leaving passed through the customs house at Verkhoturye. There are a number of mining towns in the upper Tura basin.

Geography
It is located in the Sverdlovsk Oblast and Tyumen Oblast in Russia. It is 1030 km long with a drainage basin of 80400 km2. The Tura River is navigable within 753 km of its mouth. It freezes up in late October through November and stays under the ice until April of the first half of May.

The Tura basin is bounded on the west by the Ural Mountains with the city of Perm, on the north by the Tavda River basin, on the east by the Tobol River with the city of Tobolsk and on the south by the Iset River basin with the city of Yekaterinburg.

The Tura flows north through Verkhnyaya Tura and Nizhnyaya Tura, receives an east-flowing river from the mining town of Kachkanar, flows east past Verkhoturye, turns east-southeast, receives the Tagil River from the west, passes Turinsk, receives the east-flowing Nitsa River, passes Tyumen, turns directly east, receives the east-flowing Pyshma River from the south and joins the Tobol River southwest of Tobolsk.

The Tura basin is fan-shaped with the Tura on the north side and the Pyshma River on the south.
