The '''Petropavl water tower''' is located at the corner of Brusilovskogo street and Amangeldy street in [[Petropavl]], [[Republic of Kazakhstan]]. It is a sample of the water supply system for the city from the early twentieth century.

==Construction==
The construction of the city water main started in 1901, while the construction of the water tower began in 1902. The construction of the water pipe is based on the task of servicing the city in case of a fire. The water supply was pressure-diluting, in which the central tower served as a reserve tank, and, in practice, was not used as a water distributor. Until the 1990s, the water tower was used to provide a reserve water reserve for the city's water supply and sewerage in case of fire or danger.

==Architecture==
The tower is constructed of brick with an octagonal form. It consists of five tiers connected by an internal staircase located along the walls. The entrance to the water tower is at the ground level. The interior space is illuminated through the window openings. The upper tier of the tower is lined with a wooden strip and has a walkway observation deck.

The {{convert|2228|km|mi}} long pipeline runs from [[Atyrau]] in [[Kazakhstan]] to [[Alashankou]] in China's Xinjiang. The Kenkiyak-Atyrau section of the pipeline is {{convert|449|km|mi}} long and has a capacity of {{bbl to t|120|mlt=k|per=d|t_per=a}}. Capacity of the pipeline maybe upgraded to {{bbl to t|180|mlt=k|per=d|t_per=a}} in the future. The pipeline was built and is operated by MunaiTas a joint venture between CNPC and KazMunayGas.

It is mainly serves as the home of [[Barys Astana]] of the [[Kontinental Hockey League]] (KHL) and hosts various indoor events. It is also serves as the home for [[Nomad Astana]] and [[HC Astana]] of the [[Kazakhstan Hockey Championship]] and [[Snezhnye Barsy]] junior hockey team of the [[Junior Hockey League (Russia)|Junior Hockey League]]. The arena seats 4,070 spectators for ice hockey.

==History==
The sports palace was built from 1999 to 2001. The palace was opened by the president of Kazakhstan [[Nursultan Nazarbayev]] in March 6, 2001. The Kazakhstan Sports Palace is one of the first sports venues in [[Astana]] and is used for mass sport. The building contains a [[swimming pool]], a [[health club]], an [[ice hockey rink]] and many other amateur [[sports clubs]]. Until 2008 the hockey arena was used for multi-purpose events, such as [[boxing]] and [[basketball]] events. Nowadays, the arena serves for the home games of the [[Barys Astana]]. The sports palace was reconstructed for hosting [[Ice hockey at the 2011 Asian Winter Games|Men's ice hockey tournament]] of the [[2011 Asian Winter Games]]. Ice hockey preliminaries actually started two days before the Opening Ceremony of the Games on 30 January. The matches played in the main and newly built minor arena with 1,200 seats. Currently, the minor arena is the home arena for [[HC Astana]] of the [[Kazakhstan Hockey Championship]]. Also, it using for training and warm-up for [[Barys Astana]] team, which play their home games in the main arena.

In 2011, [[Kontinental Hockey League]] commissioners declared that this arena is one of the worst in the league. The main reason is the regrettably little capacity. Barys Astana managers have decided to build the new [[Barys Arena]] for 12,000 seats. The '''Baluan Sholak Sports Palace''' ({{lang-kk|Балуан Шолақ атындағы спорт сарайы}}) is a [[Palace of Sports]] in [[Almaty]], the former capital of [[Kazakhstan]]. It was built in 1967<ref name="Neonomad"/> and extensively renovated in 2009–2011.<ref name="respub"/> It is named after [[Baluan Sholak]], a celebrated Kazakh composer, singer, poet, [[dombra]] player, [[dzhigit]] and wrestler.

==Renovation==
The renovation was undertaken in preparation for the [[2011 Asian Winter Games]],<ref name="respub"/> for staging the hockey, short track and figure skating events.<ref name="Nurkz"/> The closing ceremony of the Games was also held in the Palace. The number of seats was increased to 5000, and support facilities such as gyms, locker rooms and a press centre were added,<ref name="zakon"/> as well as a medical and rehabilitation complex, commentator booths and electronic displays. The plan also included multi-storey parking for 850 cars.

Roman Aleksandrov was born in 1976 to Aleksander Aleksandrov, music theory professor who trained Ruslan Butabayev, leader of the popular Kazakhstan orchestra ''Zaratushtra Band'', and a music teacher.

==Biography==
Aimanov was born in [[Bayanaul, Pavlodar Region|Bayanaul]], [[Russian Empire]] (now Kazakhstan) in 1914. He studied at the Kazakh Institute of Education in [[Semey|Semipalatinsk]] (now Semey) from 1931 to 1933.

He began his acting career at the Kazakh Theater of Drama in [[Almaty|Alma-Ata]] in 1933. Vivid social and psychological characteristics are inherent in his art. His best roles include Akhan Seri in Akhan Seri and Aktokty by [[Gabit Musirepov]], Isatai in Isatai and Makhambet by Akhinzhanov, Kobylandy Batyr in Kobylandy by [[Mukhtar Auezov]], Kodar in Kozy Korpesh and Bayan Sulu by Gabit Musirepov, [[Petruchio]] in [[The Taming of the Shrew]] by [[William Shakespeare]], and Tikhon in [[The Storm (Ostrovsky)|The Storm]] by [[Alexander Ostrovsky]]. He also worked as a director and from 1947 to 1951 was chief director at the Kazakh Theater of Drama. Working in films since 1940, both as actor and director, Aimanov played [[Zhambyl Zhabayev|Zhambyl]] in the film of the same name and directed the 1958 film Our Dear Doctor, among others. He was a deputy of the fourth and seventh convocations of the [[Supreme Soviet]] of the [[Kazakh Soviet Socialist Republic|Kazakh SSR]].
