He competed in the [[Canoeing at the 2016 Summer Olympics – Men's K-4 1000 metres|K-4 1000 m]] and [[Canoeing at the 2016 Summer Olympics – Men's K-2 200 metres|K-2 200 m]] events at the 2016 Olympics and finished 10th and 12th, respectively.<ref name=rio/>

Born in Ukraine, he later moved to Kazakhstan and received Kazakhstani citizenship in 2013. His partner Tetiana Yakymenko is also a sprint canoer.<ref name=nbc/>
