The founder kobyz Qorqyt Ata

The Kobyz or kyl-kobyz is an ancient Kazakh string instrument. It has two strings made of horsehair. The resonating cavity is usually covered with goat leather.

Курмангазы Сагырбайулы, (Құрманғазы Сағырбайұлы) - (1818, Букеевская Орда, Российская империя — 1896, Букеевская Орда, Астраханская губерния, Российская империя) — легендарный казахский народный музыкант, композитор, домбрист, автор кюев (пьес для домбры). Выходец из рода Кызылкурт. Оказал большое влияние на развитие казахской музыкальной культуры.С раннего детства занимался игрой на домбре. Рано появившаяся склонность мальчика к музыке не вызывала у отца одобрения. Мать Курмангазы Алка, человек яркой индивидуальности и сильной воли, наоборот, разделяла любовь сына к музыке и поддерживала его.
